I haven't intentionally focused on fleet building for Air Niugini, but I've ended up with a couple of models representing the south Asian nation because my primary objective right now is to diversify my collection to contain representatives from as many countries as possible. Finding airlines from Papua New Guinea is a very narrow field, so when I've had the opportunity to add airplanes from this country I have not hesitated. Both of the models in the fleet are made and produced by Aeroclassics. Both of the moulds feature average printing and detailing, and neither model has ariels of any kind. The two liveries represent the liveries the airline used in the 80's and the 90's. The 707 demonstrates the standard livery of the 80's with special destination titles, and the A310 shows a more modern and simplified livery used in the 90's. Both aircraft cary the red, black, white, and yellow flag of Papua New Guinea which features an example of the well known bird of paradise. The bird of paradise is also the featured tail logo of the airline and can be seen in different forms depending on the livery. To date there have been six models either produced or announced that represent the little airline. There have been no models made to represent their current paint scheme or their current fleet of aircraft. The airline was founded in 1973 and continues successful operation to this day carrying the flag of Papua New Guinea. For more, check out my Air Niugini fleet page.
