Above: Personal collection stats. Based on available information, China Northern has seen some representation in 1/400 scale, but has recently been paid more attention to. There have been 13 models made for the airline since 2007 when Aeroclassics first made an A300-600 registered B-2328. In the last five years, nine of those thirteen models have been produced by a mix of Gemini Jets, JC Wings, Phoenix Models, and Yu Models. The airline existed for just a short time from the 90's in the 00's and was one of six airlines that was created following the breakup of CAAC. Because the airline was short lived, all of the models made to represent China Northern share the same livery.
Just last month (January 2026), Aeroclassics produced a very limited re-release run of A300-600s to the tune of just 28 pieces. This aircraft, registered B-2316, is based on the aging Aeroclassics A300 mould. This seemed like a good opportunity to expand my collection. The casting is overall good, but it is showing its age lately and many QC errors are exposing its limitations that are not just evident here, but on other Aeroclassics A300 releases as well. I'm happy to have added this second representative to my collection, but I'm just as eager to hope for a superior casting to replace this one some day. This small but growing fleet represents a continued shift to add more representatives of historic airlines in my collection. China Northern is in a lower tier of interest for me, but the company it was merged into in 2004 (China Southern), is a much more important segment of my collection.
