I've taken the month off from Day-1 buying from Aeroclassics in June. Recent QC issues have dissuaded me, but I've been able to find some nice models on the second-hand market for a fraction of the recent price hikes Aeroclassics has been asking for. For under $100 USD, I've found these four models, three Boeings, and an Airbus, one of which I've been searching for, for a very long time. For a closer look at this month's latest additions, read on...

Buying model airplanes on the secondhand market on websites such as eBay or Whatnot, can certainly present some pitfalls that can trip up newer, or younger collectors, or even the more experienced ones as well. Being able to identify reputable sellers, and models that have been well looked after is a skill set, and it's very easy to end up S.O.L. (if you know what I mean),  without careful considerations. This set arrived quickly and each one in perfect condition.

Many in the 1/400 scale know that Wafflecollectables.com also operates an eBay store as well. While the majority of the collectors who shop with that company end up satisfied, there has been no shortage of frustrations through the years. I have never personally had any issues with either the online website, or the affiliated eBay branch. That's not to excuse some of the known issues with the head of the company, but that's not what this post is for. In fact, I'm beyond pleased with the fair pricing, quick shipping, and great service I received. Wafflecollectables has competitively priced models that are listed almost weekly, so if you haven't taken a look, be sure to check them out.

Notes:
The main target of the group was the Maldivian A320. Aside from an upcoming A330 made by Phoenix, the small island nation has no other representation in 1/400 scale. I did get into a very brief bidding war for this one, but still was able to secure the model for under $40. I decided to bid on both the NG Models United 737-900, and the British Airways 737-400 as I collect both of those airlines, and I'm working on growing my British Airways World Tails collection. The British Airways 737-400 which has special tail art honoring Poole, England, features a dolphin and seagulls separated by beautiful rainbow ribbons. Created by  designer Sally Tuffin, the artwork was taken from a dish and a vase made by Tuffin for Poole. The model is a bit of a tail sitter, but this is certainly a one of a kind model. Lastly, the Kargo Express 737-8 was just $15 dollars. While it isn't in my criteria, the mould is superb, and the livery is interesting. I'm glad to induct each of these airplanes into the collection, and the Maldivian will be featured over on the Photo of the Day Blog later this week.
