I first began collecting 1/400 scale models back in 2008. One of the first types that I sought to collect was the Dash-8Q-400. The Dash-8 registered OY-KCF produced by Gemini Jets in 2007 was one of the first models to join my collection. I recall being truly amazed at the detail that was possible in such a small scale. The SAS brand certainly lives within the family of the most recognizable European airlines, and any serious 1/400 scale collection should have at least an example or two. Since 2008, I've added five other models representing the airline. Half of which I've picked up in the last four years. The fleet is made up of models from Aeroclassics, Gemini Jets, and NG Models. The fleet represents three of the different SAS liveries from the most recent, to perhaps the most recognizable 'red engine' which ranged from 1998-2019, and also includes the most iconic blue longboat motif on the recently produced A300 from Aeroclassics circa March 2025. The SAS collection truly reflects the story of 1/400. From early models with good quality control with lesser details to more recent models with inexcusable production issues like the A300 show below which suffers from the new 'wavy wings' issues that have been plaguing recent Aeroclassics models. Largely, I'm proud of this small fleet of nordic airplanes, and there are a few gems that I'm proud to own. The recent entries from NG models in the A350 and the MD-87 are particularly stunning.
