There aren't many airlines from Papua New Guinea. There are even fewer 1/400 models to represent the airlines of that country. Air Niugini is the only traditional airline that have seen representatives produced on its behalf. To date, there have been seven 1/400 scale models made, and six of them are from Air Niugini. The national flag carrier has been active since 1973, and continues to operate a modest fleet of various types of aircraft today. There were three A310s that flew for Air Niugini, and one of them is today's POTD candidate. For a closer look at P2-ANA, read on...

In 2025, NG Models utilized their MD casting to launch the model company's first ever MD-87 aircraft in 1/400 scale. In February, three SAS MD-87s were released onto the 1/400 scale market. Each aircraft was released wearing the 'red engins' livery from the late 90's that lasted until almost 2020. Today's subject is the Norwegian registered LN-RMU. The aircraft was delivered in 1992 and was one of twenty one MD-87s that Scandinavian Airlines operated. For a closer look at this model, read on...

Aeroclassics, Air Jamaica 727-2J0: 6Y-JMA

It doesn't take long to find examples of British imperialism when investigating airlines in countries that were once under the empire's rule. Jamaica was captured by the British in 1655. Britain formally gained Jamaica as colony from Spain under the Treaty of Madrid in 1670. The island remained under British control until independence in 1962. One year later, with the help of BOAC, the flag carrying airline of Jamaica was founded. Air Jamaica took delivery of 6Y-JMA, in August of 1975. For a closer look at this rendition from Aeroclassics, read on...

Aeroclassics, VARIG Carga 727-173C: PP-VLW

Varig, (Viação Aérea Rio-Grandense), or 'Rio Grandean Airways') is historically one of South America's, and certainly one of Brazil's most important airlines. With over 80 models created in the scale between the year 2000 and 2025, there's a good chance most sizable collections have a Varig model in their ranks. While the airline is a major one, their use of the 727 was anything but. So it was surprising to see AC commit two models for the month of February, 2025 to the Brazilian carrier. NG Models, Iberia Airlines MD-88: EC-FOZ

I think NG Models were well aware of how good their MD-80 series mould castings were when they first hit the diecast market in early 2024. Surprisingly though, after the initial release, the mould went away for several months. Gladly though, it's back in 2025 in a big way. So far, nine different models have been featured including several of the major MD-8X series operators, American Airlines, and Delta. This Iberia Airlines MD-88 however, maybe the prettiest of them all. For more, read on...

NG Models, Aer Lingus A321neo: EI-LRA

NG Models has not been shy about using their, or perhaps HYJLwings' A321neo casting. As of February 2025, there have been 63 different A321neos produced. This Aer Lingus example is the first of those 63 however. I own six of these, and each one is nice in its own right.

I'm not a huge fan of most Euro-white liveries, but there's something about this current scheme that is really sharp and refreshing. The mould itself is very modern and looks great in hand. This is a nice product from NG in all aspects. For a closer look, read on.

NG Models, AeroGal 757-236: HC-CHC

As long as NG Models use their 757 castings, I'll be running around trying to find a reason to buy them.

NG Models has taken a lot of heat for their selection over the past few years, but people so quickly forget that they take big swings at some very unique airplanes that don't always sell well. So it surprises me when the company produces models like this, and they sit around on store shelves. This AeroGal 757 is a real beauty, for a closer look, read on....

Aeroclassics, Servivensa 727-100: YV-765C

Aeroclassics continues to be the 'lone wolf' in 1/400 scale when it comes to producing consistent and interesting 727-100's. Minus a random odd-ball Gemini/JC release here or there, there hasn't been any other player for well over a decade. While there are certain short-comings of many Aeroclassics castings, it's nice to have choices. Of which, Aeroclassics provides plenty, and for the first time ever in 1/400 Servivensa gets representation, read on...

Aeroclassics, Aer Lingus A320-200: EI-CVA

The Aeroclassics A320 mould is perhaps one of the most widely produced, and longest running castings still in production today. With well over 250 known runs, (and counting) you can bet that just about any regular 1/400 scale collector has crossed paths with at least one example. Since 2009, this tooling has been the canvas for dozens of classic, and modern representations, and this Aer Lingus A320, registered EI-CVA is proof of the endurance of the mould. Aer Lingus updated it's livery in 2019 and Aeroclassics jumped on the opportunity to get a modern A320 to market, for a closer look, read on.

Aeroclassics, AeroCaribe DC-9-31: XA-ABQ

AeroCaribe, which was a regional affiliate of the defunct Mexicana was an active carrier from 1972 until 2005. It was renamed Mexican Click as part of a company restructure between 2005 and 2008. Click eventually folded alongside it's parent company in 2010. While Click is known for its use of 717s, it was the DC-9 which replaced a fleet of Fokker 100's that ushered in the use of the well known T-tails. Having a DC-9 in 1/400 scale is important, and Aeroclassics delivers a beauty. For more, read on.
