The Republic of Maldives is the smallest nation in Asia. Reaching independence in 1965, the small archipelagic country is home to just over a half a million people. Situated about 400 miles from mainland Asia, the country's remote location is dependent on both shipping and air service. The Maldivian government directs the Island Aviation Services and that oversees the flag carrying airline, Maldivian. Gemini Jets, Air Australia A320-212: VH-YQC

What ended up being a very short-lived brand, Air Australia also marked the shuttering of its larger parent company that was originally founded as a freight broker. Strategic Airlines began operating in the early 90's, but after the departure of several of the company's top brass in 2011, a last ditch effort to save the operation came in the form of a rebrand. Because most of the airline's assets were leased, the company had very little value. The new name did little to help, and the airline was eventually liquidated.

Aeroclassics, Aer Lingus A320-200: EI-CVA

The Aeroclassics A320 mould is perhaps one of the most widely produced, and longest running castings still in production today. With well over 250 known runs, (and counting) you can bet that just about any regular 1/400 scale collector has crossed paths with at least one example. Since 2009, this tooling has been the canvas for dozens of classic, and modern representations, and this Aer Lingus A320, registered EI-CVA is proof of the endurance of the mould. Aer Lingus updated it's livery in 2019 and Aeroclassics jumped on the opportunity to get a modern A320 to market, for a closer look, read on.

Aegean has been the flag-carrying airline of Greece since 2013 following the acquisition of Olympic Air. While Olympic Air, formerly Olympic Airlines, has gotten plenty of attention in 1/400 scale, Aegean Airlines has seen a scant few releases. In fact, before NG Models prioritized a number of modern airbus airframes (there have been 5 releases to date), only Phoenix Models has made a single 1/400 scale model representing A3's existence. That model, an A321 was made in 2019, and recreates the airlines pervious livery. For more on today's subject, an A320, read on.

JC Wings, Saudi Arabian A320-214: HZ-AS12

It is often the ultra long haul, and wide-bodied aircraft that receive the most attention in 400 scale. This is even more true when considering the coverage Middle Eastern airlines typically get in the hobby. So medium range aircraft, like this Saudi A320-214 aren't typically well represented. Saudia operates over 50 A32X airframes, for example, and the 1/400 scale only offers about seven examples of A32X models. Three of the seven are from JC Wings, and one of those three is the only sandy-toned A320 in 1/400 scale.
