The subject for today's 'Photo of the Day' segment is AeroGal 757-236 registered as HC-CHC.. This is the 453rd 757 off of the line, and has seen service with many operators. This airplane began passenger service in 1992 with Caledonian Airlines. It changed hands nearly 14 times before joining the AeroGal fleet (2008). It wore this livery for only a little over a year as it was on its way once again in 2010 to National Airlines. This occurred after AeroGal was merged with Avianca. After two more years with National, she was converted into a freighter in 2013 for Fedex, and there she remains. The real thing: AeroGal, 757-236: HC-CHC on final approach to Miami International, April 6th, 2010. (Photography courtesy of Jean-Claude Simard, Airliners.net). Notes:
How this model remained on store shelves for as long as it did, and what's more, how it ever even ended up discounted surprises the hell out of me. I completely understand many collectors out there aren't into niche, non-classic short lived airlines or paint schemes, but this one looks fantastic. The Honduran flag on the nose is very unique, the flock of seabirds taking off, and the primary colored reptiles that adorn the fuselage make this a really interesting model. The detailed review for this one will be a fun project, and if you can find one of these, I can't recommend it enough.
