Diecast Update: Week of 9/21/26

It's been a long while since we've seen a full fledge physical altercation on pit road after a Cup race, but after a series of on track fireworks during the Bristol night race, Ryan Blaney and Carson Hocevar went head to head. After a short but very physical confrontation, Carson Hocevar turned to rile the fans as other Cup drivers watched and yelled in disapproval. The past 72 hours have been a media frenzy, but I'm making sure all of the new and interesting diecast cars that have been announced by Lionel Racing get the attention they deserve! Starting the 2026 Nascar Chase for the Cup at Darlington Raceway with the Southern 500 is about as good as you can get. I was fortunate enough to be in attendance at the 63rd running of this Nascar crown jewel, and as Christopher Bell took the checkered flag for his 14th career win, it was time to turn our attention to a stacked week of Nascar 1/64 diecast. Between new 2026 1/64s with the Nascar Chase banner, to Red Bull LMSCs, to some nice support series offerings, there's a ton to dig into this week, and as per usual, there's sure to be something that catches your attention. According to the Gluck Poll, Atlanta ended up being the best race of the 2026 season. Even after a lengthy rain delay that resulted in a race that started at 7pm resuming well after midnight, the summer Atlanta race yielded great ratings. Ryan Blaney who has been leading the Fords all year, and typically runs very well at Atlanta would not be denied. All race long he was challenged, and all race long he responded. Blaney's raced Bodyarmor Flash IV Mustang leads the way in the 1/64 scale this week, and we've got cars in almost every series up for preorder now. Diecast Update: Week of 5/25/2026

It has been a week of unprecedented sadness in the Nascar world. The sudden and tragic loss of Nascar great, Kyle Busch has left the racing world reeling. The sport that brings so many, so much joy, turned into a nightmare when it was announced on Thursday, May 21st, that Busch had passed away at age 41. Kyle leaves behind a family and the racing community far better off than what he found it, and a legacy that will last forever. We will carry on this week as always, but of course mindfully of what's been lost.

Race number six of the 2026 season is over and while the main event didn't bring the chaotic action many anticipated, the race still delivered some spectacular and memorable moments. It was good to hear and see Darrell Waltrip in the booth again to deliver his signature 'Boogity, Boogity, Boogity, Let's go racing, boys!' After 16 lead changes, and four cautions, Tyler Reddick would claim his fourth trophy of the season and his raced diecast heads off a bumper week for Lionel Racing. The more things change, the more they remain the same. The addition of COTA (Circuit of the Americas) to the Nascar schedule has been a stroke of genius by the racing league’s game makers. The Next Gen stock cars look great on the track meant for F1 cars, and the racing has matured into something really great. What no one could have seen coming was Nascar history being made in Tyler Reddick's third straight win, the only time a driver has claimed the first three races of a season, ever. Diecast Update: Week of 2/16/26

This was another monster week in the world of 1/64 scale diecast race cars. Special paint schemes, new OEMS, really cool raced diecast all abound in this edition. The 2026 season is officially in full swing. A fantastic week of racing at Daytona has produced some classic race cars that will go down in history. Tyler Reddick capped off the weekend by winning his first Daytona 500. Austin Hill put on another clinic for the O'Reilly field, and Chandler Smith stole the trophy from the rest of the drivers in the Craftsman Truck series. The 2024 season was perhaps, one of the most important ever for single time Cup champion Brad Keselowski. After making a clean break from Team Penseke following the 2021 season to become a part owner at RFK, the question lingered for three long seasons. Can Brad still win?
