Diecast Update: Week of 8/24/26

Sunday's race at New Hampshire had just about everything, rain tires, questionable spin outs, calamitous crashes, and a great battle for the lead at the end of the race. Ultimately, Ryan Blaney was able to hold off a hard charging Bubba Wallace to solidify his third win of the season, and his top five standing going into the Nascar Chase following the summer Daytona race this weekend. While the action at New Hampshire was awesome, we've got some great 1/64s this week that are pretty awesome too. Raced Version: (Loudon)

Team Penske has for years now, held short flat tracks in the Cup series completely locked down. Phoenix, North Wilkesboro and New Hampshire, among other tracks have been some of the team's best tracks, and that stranglehold continues as Ryan Blaney won at Loudon for the second year in a row. The Menard's/Dutch Boys scheme is one that's become synonymous with winning, and this is Blaney's 20th Cup series win and that locks him in 44th place all-time. 

Similarly, Front Row Motorsports also continues to boast significant speed at short flat tracks just like their Cup series OEM ally in Team Penske. Layne Riggs and the No. 34 team claimed their  6th win of the year, and boast a 9.7 average finish in 2026. This is the 11th win of Rigg's career in the Truck series and that ties him with Timothy Peters. This is the second win of the year in the BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing Ford, and the victory surely locks him into being the favorite for the series championship.

Standard Versions (Cup)

Chevy:

Modo Casino has been responsible for some awesome paint schemes in 2026. Michael McDowell's 'screaming eagle' from earlier in the year comes to mind, but this car is on a whole other level. Wild shades of pick, hearts, and a massive lip stick print adorn the front of this unmissable Chevy that was on tv frequently during last Sunday's race. Hocevar fought through several mistakes finish 19th. This is the 9th standard 1/64 of the year for the 77.

It's been impressive to see how much SuperFile has invested in Nascar over the past year, and they doubled down at New Hampshire to pick up coverage for two Trackhouse cars. Normally a sponsor on SVG's Chevy, SuperFile also bought up real estate on Connor Zilch's car. While the machine looked awesome on track, the car will most likely be remembered for how Zilisch was unable to avoid a wreck in turn three. Got this one ranked second best of ten. 

The brother to Connor's car also was announced this week, in similar fashion but with a slightly inverted scheme that carries more white scribbles than neon ones. SVG capitalized on the wet weather tires early on at Loudon and led 30 laps before loosing his advantage once the field was forced to switch to slicks. Van Gisbergen and Chastain have gotten the lion's share of awesome schemes this year with is why I've got this one ranked 7th best of his 10.

Standard Versions (O.A.P.S.)

Speaking of Ross Chastain, we've got our second announced 1/64 of the 2026 season. Registix has bought big into the O'Reilly series now partnering with JRM for a second year. They've collaborated with JRM to create a variety of designs, and this one is probably the coolest. Resembling a Spitfire, or an A-10, Ross Chastain drove this car just once (so far) in 2026 at Iowa. After starting on the front row, Chastain kept it in the top-5 finishing 4th. This is a looker!

Here we are again, Kyle Sieg gets his second 1/64 of the year, and still nothing for brother Ryan. This car is the epitome of attention grabbing, head shaking, comedy. Goliath Games brought their character 'Butt Face' to the sheet metal of Kyle Sieg's car at Iowa Speedway last month as well, and even after an early spin, Seig was able to bring his Camaro home in 12th place. That's a significant run for a lower tier team that seems to be finding their stride since creating a technical alliance with H.F.T.

Standard Version (Trucks)

Outside of the 'Butt Face' car, Tristan McKee and his No. 77 Workforce Spire Silverado is another obscure driver and scheme making an appearance this week. McKee has participated in a handful of ARCA series races, and this year has made his way into the Truck series with Spire. McKee has run two races so far, race number 17 and 18. Race 17 of the 2026 Truck season was the support race at Richmond, and there he drive this truck to an 8th place finish.

LMSC/CARS Tour

Keelan Harvick continues to lead the way in the LMSC category. With his second standard livery of 2026, the Spears retro scheme appeared on track at the CARS Tour Throwback Classic. Paying homage to his father's 1998 Nascar West livery, Keelan drive this car to a 7th place finish during the PLM race at Hickory this month. I love the look of this race car, and I'd argue it's much better looking than the other standard scheme we've been offered for Harvick. (The all-yellow, Panini scheme from last week).

Conclusion:
This week was certainly a hodgepodge of offerings from Lionel Racing, and with raced versions, Cup cars, O'Reilly, Trucks, and even a LMSC to choose from, once again Nascar fans who are shopping for the latest cars in the 1/64 scale are spoiled for choice. As a Blaney fan, the Menards/Dutch Boy Loudon win is at the top of my list, but the pair of SuperFile Trackhouse Chevy's are going on a big pile of great schemes that SVG and Connor Zilisch had brandished in 2026. I can't wait to see some of the SuperFile designs when they begin to creep out in the next few months. 

Aside from those cars, the Carson Hocevar Chevy, and the Keelan Harvick LMSC are legitimate day-one preorder candidates, and I'm sure they will both make MOQ. Next up this week is the final race of the regular season for O'Reilly and Cup at Daytona. The Saturday night race that's scheduled for the Cup race is setting up to be a good one, and with it, many teams will bring with them some of the best looking cars of the season, and several will no doubt be offered by Lionel for preoder.
