1/64 Diecast Update: Week of 10/12/25

This past week featured a couple of important elimination races that lacked in excitement largely due to the skill differential between Corey Heim, Connor Zilisch, and Shane van Gisbergen compared to the rest of the field of drivers they were racing against. While the Roval didn’t offer the level of action most fans were hoping for, Lionel Racing has come up with another diverse batch of preorders this week that are sure to be of interest . This week, all three Roval winners get the preorder treatment, for all the latest, read on!

Raced Version: (Roval)

With his fifth win of the season, Shane has taken all but one road course on the year. Even when he’s piloting a car with issues, SVG is capable of driving at a level that’s off of the charts. Jeff Gordon holds the record for consecutive road course wins with 6, which he earned between 1997 and 2000. Now SVG has the opportunity to tie that record as early as March 1st 2026 when the Cup series returns to the COTA. This was career win number 6 for van Gisbergen.

The Jr. Motorsports No. 88 Chevy is literally running out of room for win stickers. Connor's incredible season continued at the Roval with another win, his tenth to be precise. Zilisch claimed the win after starting on the pole, his 8th 1st position start of the year. It's been a supremely successful season for the JRM No. 88 team, and this will be another highly sough after diecast to remember an iconic run.

Corey Heim continues to show how much he's outgrown the Craftsman Truck series. His situation is identical to that of Connor Zilisch. Heim is literally running out of room on his roof rail. With win number ten of the season, he is now the record holder for most wins in a single season. This truck, if produced, will be a nice reference piece for collectors interested in making note of this historic win. Previously, it was Greg Biffle who held the record dating back to 1999.

Standard Versions (Cup)

Chevy
When JRM announced their first ever start in the Nascar Cup series, they could not have truly anticipated the demand for memorabilia. Demand for the Traveler Whiskey No. 40 deicast has remained strong for months after the car actually raced. It's very unusual to see spirit branded 1/64 scale race cars, and we are now finally getting the chance to have one. In a big announcement this week, Justin Allgaier's No. 40 Chevy will be available in June of 2026.

Some colors just work better on race cars than others. The Love Your Mind initiative sponsored by the Ad Council is a powerful movement dedicated to encouraging people to work towards maintaining good mental health. That theme is beautifully featured on Alex Bowman's No. 48 Chevy that will take to the track at Las Vegas this week. This car is a nice contrast to the usual Ally colors we get for Bowman. This is a good looking race car.

Ford:
Coming in from way out of nowhere, the most obscure Cup car we've seen all year. Timmy Hill's Skeletron Mustang that he raced at Darlington during last September's Southern 500. I can't recall the last time, if ever an MBM diecast has been offered in 1/64 scale. This is a very basic and ordinary livery, but because it's so obscure, I genuinely hope it gets produced. I'll be placing an order four a couple of these.

Standard Version (ARCA)

This car probably should have been featured in the 'raced' section, but being more niche it seemed to fit better down here in the ARCA section. Brenden 'Butterbean' Queen solidified his ARCA championship last week at Toledo in Ohio with a runner up finish. Brendan Queen has a serious following and he's got his eye's set on the next level.

Conclusion:
A plethora of raced diecast cars headline this week's set from Lionel Racing. The most interesting of the bunch to me are the couple of raced versions featuring Corey Heim and Connor Zilisch. Those cars with their many win stickers will look really interesting and will be very unique. With several races to go in the 2025 season, it seems shocking, but likely that neither driver is probably done yet! I'll absolutely be placing an order for the JRM No. 40, and the MBM No. 66 cars. those are both sure to be really interesting subjects. I'll be surprised if the No. 48 gets produced which is a shame because it's a great looking livery.

There are just a couple of weeks left in the 2025 season, and our attention will too be focused on the upcoming livers for the 2026 season. That's it for this week, we'll see you back here next time for the 1/64 Descant Update.
