1/64 Diecast Update: Week of 10/19/25

A story we’ve been following all season long, can Denny Hamlin reach 60 wins? On many occasions, Hamlin has self proclaimed that reaching 60 wins was more consequential and important to him than earning a Nascar Cup series championship. Sunday evening, at Las Vegas, in the first race of the penultimate round of the Cup series playoffs, Denny accomplished his goal in dramatic form by wrestling the lead away from his teammate, Chase Briscoe with four laps to go. With just a few cars up for preorder this week, it's a short lineup.

Raced Versions: (Las Vegas)

The west coast convenience store, ampm came on as a minor primary sponsor early in 2025 after it became clear that long-time sponsorship partner, Fedex, would no longer be a part of the JGR family of supporting companies. For many fans, the purple and black colors play exceptionally well as that’s what we’ve typically seen Denny wearing and driving over the past two decades. His car looks great, and the raced version will be historic.

Standard Versions (Cup)

Trackhouse has finally incorporated the black fern into an SVG livery. The black fern tree, also commonly known as mamaku, is a large tree fern that is distributed across the south-west Pacific from Fiji to New Zealand. It is also the logo for the world renowned rugby team, the New Zealand All Blacks. And now it has been integrated into this really cool looking paint scheme which was driven by van Gisbergen at Las Vegas last week. Unfortunately, the car was involved in a crash on lap 246, and he wasn’t able to complete the event.

Standard Versions (Xfinity)

While Jesse Love has spent the majority of the year driving the No. 2 RCR Xfinity car wearing the standard Whelen livery, at the Charlotte Roval, Whelen showed their support for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The car features many patriotic elements as well as the names of 140 fallen firefighters honored with enshrinement in the 2025 NFFF Roll of Honor. It’s likely that these names won’t be readable in this scale, but the car is still a nice tribute. Love piloted this car to a 12th place finish.

Conclusion:
It's a short but sweet lineup from Lionel Racing this week. Denny's 60th win is no doubt the headliner. Shane van Gisbergen's special Jockey scheme is something I've been waiting all year for, and the Trackhouse graphics department hit a home run on this one. This is a day one must buy for me, and I've already got my order in. It's nice to see teams other than JRM continue to get representation in the 1/64 range. This is the second 1/64 scale Xifnity car for the month of October, and certainly one that brings more attention to a truly important cause. A final note is that this is the only 1/64 that's being offered presently for Jesse Love. That's it for this week's very short edition of the Diecast Update, see you next week!
