Raced Versions:Nascar's journey to Mexico City gave the industry more material than any race so far this season. It's been a long time since a series sanctioned event happened outside of the United Sates, and considering current affairs, it's tremendous accomplishment that both the Xfinity race and Cup race took place as scheduled. Acknowledging the historic occasions now can be done by preordering one or both of the winning race cars from this weekend. In a back up car, Daniel Suarez beat the field to win the Xifnity series trophy while in the Cup series, Shane van Gisbergen overcame a late illness to put on a clinic showing the world what an incredible talent he is. Standard Versions (Cup)Chevrolet: Just a couple of Chevy's this week. As the season rolls on, so do the different Busch and Busch Light liveries. Ross Chastain will have Busch Light Lime featured on his #1 Trackhouse Chevy at Indianapolis later in the season. Carson Hocevar also has his third car of the year up for preorder. His first announced 1/64, the Miner Chevy DNP'd. The Chili's Chevy remains available for preorder, and it could sit beside this special 50th anniversary paint scheme Hocevar drove at Michigan last week. Ford: Four Mustangs were announced this week, and three of them are from the Front Row Motorsports stable. Noah Gragson, Todd Gilliland, and Zane Smith each get a preorder with their names over the door. The highlight here for me has to be the Grillo's Pickle Car which has become a fan favorite. Speaking of fan favorites, RFK announced a car that will surely be a fan favorite. In partnership with Kroger, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and the sugary squares will be riding with Chris Buescher at Atlanta next week. This may not be the coolest paint scheme of the year, but it may be one of the most fun. Standard Versions (Xfinity)The big Xfinity news this week was the announcement that Shane van Gisbergen will be taking over the JRM #9 Camaro for the Watkins Glenn race in August. He'll bring with him Trackhouse affiliate, Kubota. This car has essentially been a celebrity car for JRM this year being driven by other Cup drivers like Ross Chastain, and Daniel Suarez. Also up for preorder is the Sheldon Creed, 'Ollie's' #00 Mustang. Creed is currently 9th in the points, but still is looking for that first in of the season. Notes: This was a big week for 1/64s without considering the news around the all-metal chassis. If you haven't seen our comparison between metal and plastic chassis, you can find that overview here. We also have a post outlining the new 1/64 changes going forward, and you can find those details here. All of that news aside, this is a solid line up for the week. I plan on preordering the Spire #7, the FRM #34, and 38, as well as the RFK #17. Great job to the Nascar livery designers, and Lionel for giving us some great opportunities! That's all for this week, we'll see you back here next time.
