As the summer rolls on, a modest but steady stream of 1/64s continue to be offered from Lionel Racing. This week brings some great and historic raced versions, as well as some cars that would be considered more obscure.

A couple of important wins took place in Dover over the past week. Connor Zilisch continues to prove that he's the real deal, and I'm getting into the habit of typing his name on this report every week. Denny Hamlin also pads his stats with another very impressive win. For more, read on.

Raced Versions: (Dover)

Denny Hamlin continues his historic climb up the Nascar all-time wins list. After a short rain delay and several cautions, Hamlin, on old tires won his 58th premier level Nascar sanctioned event. This win also places him 11th in career wins. He’s chasing Kevin Harvick (10th) who has 60, and Kyle Busch in 9th who has 63. After signing a new multi-year deal with Joe Gibbs, there’s likely more to come. This is also the second win Denny Hamlin has delivered to primary sponsor, Progressive Insurance.

Connor Zilisch has already accomplished a lot in a very short amount of time. Dover is a place he's won before in the ARCA Menards series, and now Zilisch can add another Miles the Monster trophy to his collection. In a rain shortened BetRivers 200, Zilisch was able to win the day by using a dominant JRM Chevy to lead a total of 77 laps and edged out veteran JGR driver Aric Almirola. This was Connor's 4th win of the 2025 Xfinity season and the 99th win for the JRM organization.

Standard Versions (Cup)

Chevy:
Kyle Larson rarely drives race cars that aren't the typical red, white, and blue colors of the Hendrickcars.com or Valvoline Chevys. So a black and gold themed car featuring the world renowned country music group, Zac Brown Band is a nice surprise. The car will race just once at Las Vegas in October of 2025 to coincide with an upcoming special performance for the Z.B.B. at the Las Vegas Sphere. This will be a nice opportunity for Larson fans to add a little diversity to their 1/64 lineup.

Cheddar's has been a close partner with Kyle Busch ever since his move to Richard Childress Racing. That relationship continues in 2025, and Cheddar's, known for the American style meals and chicken fingers, will also collaborate with the team to race this special patriotic livery celebrating American military members. The is the fourth 1/64 scale diecast car to be offered for Kyle this year, and the second Cheddar's livery to get 1/64 representation as well.

1/64 scale offerings for both Kaulig Racing and Ty Dillon are typically few and far in between. In recent weeks, Ty Dillon has been at the center of the 'in season challenge.' Both he and Ty Gibbs will face off in the final round at Indy, today, to determine who will win the 1 million dollar prize. I have no doubt that the extra attention has provided the necessary effort for Lionel to justify offering this car in multiple trims and scales. Gladly, we have the chance to add this car to our 1/64 scale collections.

Notes:
So that about sums up the week, and the month of July! This week could have been an all Chevy lineup if not for Denny's win at Dover. We'll of course feature this week's Indianapolis winners in next week's edition of the Diecast Update. With Iowa and Watkins Glenn around the corner, several new and exciting paint schemes are set to hit the track soon. We're looking forward to another great month in August. Be sure to get those preorders in soon to avoid your favorite cars from DNPing. Have a great week and we'll see you back here next time for the Deicast Update!
