On this week's edition of the Diecast Update, we're taking a look at a variety of new 1/64 cars that are planned for release in the upcoming months that reflect both the Nascar Cup series and the Nascar Xfinity series. There are three raced versions being offered this week and we come off of an exciting weekend at Indianapolis. The mid summer swing of late season sponsors is also continuing this week with a couple of new Mustangs. As we turn our attention to everything that was announced by Lionel Racing this week in 1/64, we cover it all, read on.

Raced Versions: (Indianapolis)

Indianapolis is a special place. Year after year it delivers racing magic. Not just in the way it offered spectacular scenes, but also in the stories that the special circuit writes. This time around it was team 23XL and Bubba Wallace that would make history. Wallace earned his third career Cup series win, and his first Crown Jewel win in a tense rain delayed finish. Wallace won by holding off the hard-charging racing ace, Kyle Larson.

There are not many names that are more synonymous with racing than Earnhardt. So it seemed perfectly poetic and appropriate that JRM would claim its 100th victory at Indy. It seemed like the day would go to Justin Allgaier, but a late caution would end his race throwing the responsibility onto the shoulders of young Connor Zillisch. Once again, the electric talent delivered a historic win at a historic track to put the period on another great racing story.

In much less dramatic fashion, Ty Gibbs also found himself victorious at Indianapolis as well. In a final showdown with Ty Dillon of Kaulig Racing, Ty Gibbs and the JGR number 54 team came out on top of the in-season bracket challenge. While it remains to be seen how memorable and significant the new gimmick will really be, history proves that stacking small wins leads to bigger ones. Ty Gibbs continues to grow up in the Cup series. maybe that first win isn't too far off.

Standard Versions (Cup)

Chevy:
We get one new Chevy for preorder this week, a special one-off livery for Iowa Speedway. The Trackhouse Racing number one Chevy will wear a livery dedicated to the many farmers who make Busch Light possible. This will be a popular choice for Ross Chastain and Busch Light completionists. There have been quite a few Busch and Busch Light schemes this year, but this is certainly one of the better ones. This looks to be a one and done livery.

Ford:
Genera8tor Skills has been a long time partner of Todd Gilliland and Front Row Motorsports. The company will once again adorn an FRM Ford at Indy with a stylish refresh for 2025. The Indiana University partner will take advantage of the presence of Nascar in the region by showcasing their colors on this car. The design at this point is likely to only appear on track once this season, another one-off paint scheme.

It's been quite a few years since regular Team Penske partner PPG has been a featured sponsor in the Cup series. The paint company will be joining up with Team Penske ally Josh Berry and the Wood Brothers for another likely one-off livery that will race at the Brickyard 400. There are few schemes that look this good, and it's really exciting to have another colorful and fast looking Mustang that can be ordered in 1/64 scale. This has been a banner year for Wood Brother's fans, the excitement continues.

Standard Versions (Xfinity)

After 125 races, Sheldon Creed is still searching for victory lane. Making the shift to Haas Factory Team this year has debatably been a step backwards in performance, at least in the short term it seems. While Creed is still without a win, he is still a driver that could break through at any point and a flashy looking Mustang adorned with the Pit Boss colors might be what he's driving when he does. They've been onboard for a few races this year already, and if H.F.T. can get a little momentum rolling, look out.

Notes:
Lionel Racing continues to bring us some of the best liveries in the top levels of Nascar. Each of these 1/64 scale diecast cars are now available for preorder at Lionelracing.com or your favorite 1/64 scale Nascar Diecast dealer. The highlights this week in my opinion are the Bubba Wallace Brickyard 400 raced version, and the two Mustangs are the best looking race cars of the bunch. The Berry PPG is an absolute lock. As always, we appreciate you checking out the 1/64 Diecast Update, and we'll be back at it next week with the winners from Iowa, and all the new preorders made available.
