The 2025 Nascar playoffs have arrived. Last week, it all came down to one final hurrah for over two thirds of the Cup series field. With one last chance to lock in a playoff position with a win at Daytona, many teams laid it all out on the line. But ultimately, Ryan Blaney would have the last word. No unexpected victor would claim a final place, and the round of 16 was set. This week, just a few new 1/64s were announced. There are no cars for Toyota, nor are there any preorder options for teams from the support series.  For the full breakdown, read on...

Raced Versions: (Daytona)

The 2025 season has been a trying one for Ryan Blaney and the No. 12 Team Penske group. It was nice to see Blaney notch his second, and perhaps most important win of the year so far. Blaney is truly in an elite category when it comes to drafting tracks, and his success at places like Daytona, are vaulting him to Nascar immortality. Blaney now sits comfortably in the top 8 heading into the first round of the 2025 playoffs.

Connor Zillisch was faced with difficult situation this past week after undergoing surgery to repair his broken collar bone from an injury suffered at Watkins Glen a few weeks ago. His team made the decision to call upon veteran driver, Parker Kligerman to assist the 88 team. After starting the race, Zillisch retreated to pit road swapping his seat with Kligerman who would pilot the JRM Chevy the rest of the way and across the finish line in first position.

Standard Versions (Cup)

Chevy:
This weekend, for the Cookout Southern 500 at Darlington, Trackhouse racing and Busch Light will be bringing another special livery for the No. 1 Chevy. Ross Chastain and the Busch black stallion will navigate the treacherous banks of the ruling late summer crown jewel. This will be  by my count at swat the 7th new Busch paint scheme this season, and perhaps, the best one to this point.

Is it really possible that Austin Dillon has been racing in the Cup series full time for eleven years? It was in 2014 that Dillon began to make his way in the number three car, and wit was with Dow. The company still remains loyal to RCR, and a new and captivating livery for Gateway is now available for preorder. This will be the 5th 1/64 preorder option for Dillon this year, not counting his Richmond win. Perhaps this is one I may need to add?

Ford:
In a nod to the Fenway group, a co-owner of RFK Racing, the BuildSubmarines.com Mustang will be wearing the Red Sox themed colors for the upcoming race at New Hampshire later this month. This is also the 5th preorder option for Brad K. fans this season. I don't think this car comes close to the Castrol colors, but I'm sure Sox Fans will be happy to consider this one.

The last car of the week is this stealthy looking BodyArmor Mustang that Ryan Blaney ran at Richmond a few weeks ago. The car features a nice white pinstripe, and images of some of the brand's top selling options. This is the third BodyArmor car of 2025 for Blaney. It's probably not as cool at the BodyArmor Chill car from the Coke 600, but it's up there. I have this ranked 5th out of the 9 Blaney schemes that have been offered to fans this year.

Conclusion:
This has certainly been another down week for the world of 1/64 scale Nascar diecast. Blaney certainly gets the feature this week with both a raced and a standard option. I would not sleep on the Trackhouse Busch Light throwback, and the Austin Dillon Dow Chevy could be a heater. With Darlington in the rearview, Gateway is up next this week for the second race of the first round. There are sure to be more exciting schemes as the year winds down. That's all for the Diecast Update! We'll see you back here next Monday to highlight Chase Briscoe's big South 500 win, and all the latest 1/64 scale diecast news!
