1/64 Diecast Update: Week of 9/14/25

This week is some pretty light work. With only three new 1/64 scale diecast cars up for pre-order over at Lionel Racing, there's not too much to review. We'll start things off by recognizing another big win for Denny Hamlin as he adds another to the all time list. Hamlin seems like he is more well situated to compete for a title than ever before. While he maintains that climbing the all-time wins list is more important to him, the nearness of his elusive championship is really quite interesting. For a comprehensive review of what's new, read on...

Raced Version: (Gateway)

When comparing how the different OEMs in Nascar have faired so far in the 2025 Nascar Cup series playoffs, there's no doubt that Toyota and Joe Gibbs racing is the organization that's setting the bar. With a big win at Darlington, JGR followed that up with another statement victory at the hands of Denny Hamlin. Hamlin started the Enjoy Illinois 300 from the pole, and led 75 of the 240 laps. This is Hamlin's second win for Progressive, the other being at Martinsville.

Standard Versions (Cup)

Chevy:
There are two new standard schemes this week, the first being a special awareness livery sponsored by Valvoline. Byron and the 24 team unveiled this new scheme this past week. William Byron will race this special Blood Cancer United Chevy at the Roval in October of this year during the Charlotte Bank of America ROVAL 400.

The second standard scheme offering is new livery for Shane van Gisbergen. While SVG has primarily worn liveries for Red Bull Energy, SafteyCulture, and WeatherTech, the driver still maintains strong ties with Wendy's. This special look was designed to bring attention to Wendy's breakfast menu. It also is a one-off that's going to be featured at the Bristol night race as SVG does his best to remain in contention for the Nascar championship.

Conclusion:
This has been an especially sparse week, but we still have some interesting options. I don't foresee myself ordering any of these diecast options, That's not to say any of these are bad designs, but none of them particularly fit into my criteria. I do think one day many will look to the past and realize what a special occasion it is to be watching Denny Hamlin still climbing the all-time ladder at his current clip, so placing and order for win number 59 may be a good idea for some. That's it fr this week! Hope to see you back here next Monday for the Diecast Update!
