1/64 Diecast Update: Week of 9/28/25

The Nascar playoffs continue to roll on, but perhaps for the last time as speculation has been growing that the sanctioning body will step away from the bracket style format as soon as next year. Also leading the way on this week's eddition, at New Hampshire, Ryan Blaney secured his third win of the season and first ever at the northern most Nascar venue on the schedule. There’s more 1/64s to cover this week than expected with everyone except Ford and the Truck series getting new preorders, so on that note, let’s get started.

Raced Version: (New Hampshire)

The last thing the Cup series contenders want to see is the Penske cars getting hot in the middle of the playoffs. With a big win at New Hampshire, Ryan Blaney has locked himself into the round of 8. This was Blaney's 16th win which puts him solely in 56th place on the all-time list. One race more than fellow current competitor, William Byron. This should be a nice 1/64 to add to your Blaney or raced version collection.

Standard Versions (Cup)

Chevy:
Cheddar's and the No. 3 RCR team brought a new variant livery to the garage this past weekend at Kansas. This is the third paint scheme for Cheddar's. It's not my favorite version, I think the patriotic colors that we typically see on this car on holiday weekends is better, but this is a nice shake-up that will permit you to add a 1/64 scale sized blue and orange edition to your lineup.

Delaware Life has been a sponsor on Carson Hocevar's car for twelve races this season. It is a core sponsor of all three Spire cars, and it finally gets the 1/64 scale treatment in 2025. This car was also produced for Hocevar last year, but it's nice to get an updated version. This version will be a bit different in that the primary paint scheme will now be void of the rookie stripes, and it will also reflect the subtle differences in that layered colors of blue and aqua.

Toyota:
We get a couple of new liveries this week for Toyota Front runners. First up, Denny Hamlin's special livery, the King's Hawaiian Soft Pretzel Bites Camry is getting the 1/64 treatment. I'm not a big fan of race cars that display photos or images of specific products like this, but the blue and orange work well together. This car has only had one appearance this year, the Bristol night race a few weeks back. Denny struggled in that race and finished 5 laps down.

The dynamic Jordan brand liveries that 23XL Racing has been able to bring to life on the side of a race car seem to have no end. This time, Tyler Reddick's car is being used to celebrate the drop of the company's Air Jordan 40 shoes. The car has a black base coat and features a pegasus wing-like design made up of gray layered parallelograms that flow backwards and up. The car also will feature the Nascar playoff banner on the windshield. Very cool.

Standard Versions (Xfinity)

Connor Mosack will get the nod to sit behind the wheel of the JRM No. 9 Chevy at the Roval on October 4th, 2025. The 9 car has primarily been driven by a rotating cast of celebrity drivers this year, but now the team will give this young and aspiring driver a great opportunity to showcase his road racing skills. Registix is becoming a mainstay sponsor at JRM, and it feels like this partnership is only just getting started. Last week I was able to see this car getting unveiled at a Registix event. You can read more about it here.

Conclusion:
This was an up week for 1/64s, and it was good to get a raced version, a playoff scheme, and a new Xfinity car plus some other standard schemes to choose from. Like I mentioned before, I don't love the idea of products depicted on race cars like the pretzel's on Denny's Camry, I can't deny that the car looks pretty good. While the car itself is pretty insignificant historically, it's probably the best of the bunch. The Reddick Chevy is a close second for me, but it is curious that Denny's car is void of the playoff banner. This is another week of some solid selections. Happy collecting, and we'll see you back here next month!
