With Kansas in the books, a race that ended in shocking fashion, there's a lot to reflect on, especially for the lead Toyota teams in JGR and 23XL. In the diecast world, another week brings another great set of 1/64 to think about and discuss. From raced versions to ARCA, from Trucks to Cup, there are a bunch of new race cars to review in this week's preorder selection group. In a primarily Chevy lineup, we have one ARCA Toyota, but no Fords at all. For a closer look let's get into on this week's edition of the Diecast Update.

The Nascar playoffs continue to roll on, but perhaps for the last time as speculation has been growing that the sanctioning body will step away from the bracket style format as soon as next year. Also leading the way on this week's eddition, at New Hampshire, Ryan Blaney secured his third win of the season and first ever at the northern most Nascar venue on the schedule. There’s more 1/64s to cover this week than expected with everyone except Ford and the Truck series getting new preorders, so on that note, let’s get started. ​

The third week of September saw a bit more activity in the 1/64 scale space than the previous few. This week, five new creations have made their way up on the preorder page over at LionelRacing.com or at your favorite 1/64 dealer.  This week, two raced versions make the headlines as both Christopher Bell, and Layne Riggs claim big wins at Bristol. This week is some pretty light work. With only three new 1/64 scale diecast cars up for pre-order over at Lionel Racing, there's not too much to review. We'll start things off by recognizing another big win for Denny Hamlin as he adds another to the all time list. Hamlin seems like he is more well situated to compete for a title than ever before. Last week at Darlington, Chase Briscoe accomplished something truly historic when he led the majority of the laps and won the Southern 500 for a second time. This is something only seven other drivers have ever accomplished. Briscoe is truly hitting his stride in his new home at JGR. The 2025 Nascar playoffs have arrived. Last week, it all came down to one final hurrah for over two thirds of the Cup series field. With one last chance to lock in a playoff position with a win at Daytona, many teams laid it all out on the line. But ultimately, Ryan Blaney would have the last word. No unexpected victor would claim a final place, and the round of 16 was set. This week, just a few new 1/64s were announced. August is coming to a close. With Labor Day weekend ahead of us, that means that Darlington is just around the corner. On this week's edition of the Diecast Update, we're taking a look at a variety of new 1/64 cars that are planned for release in the upcoming months that reflect both the Nascar Cup series and the Nascar Xfinity series. There are three raced versions being offered this week and we come off of an exciting weekend at Indianapolis. The mid summer swing of late season sponsors is also continuing this week with a couple of new Mustangs. As the summer rolls on, a modest but steady stream of 1/64s continue to be offered from Lionel Racing. This week brings some great and historic raced versions, as well as some cars that would be considered more obscure. 

A couple of important wins took place in Dover over the past week. Connor Zilisch continues to prove that he's the real deal, and I'm getting into the habit of typing his name on this report every week. Denny Hamlin also pads his stats with another very impressive win. For more, read on.

If no one has told you yet, Connor Zilisch is a very good race car driver. Signing Zilisch to a development contract may have been one of the best moves Trackhouse Racing has ever made. With multiple wins in the Xfinity series this year already, Zilisch is already showing incredible promise. In preparation for his inevitable entrance into the Cup garage, Zilisch is running a handful of Cup races in 2025 with full support from Red Bull. ​We’re back at it  after a nice 4th of July vacation. We have got a good amount to recap this week in the world of 1/64 scale Nascar diecast. There are two week’s worth of raced won diecast to go over. Both Chase Elliott and SVG have found victory lane. There's also just one standard ARC 1/64 that has been announced as well. The most interesting preorder announcement is a 'Nascar Classics' 1/64 scale Chevy Silverado from 1995 that represents Terry Labonte's only Truck win.
