The real thing: Erik Jones on the high banks of Talladega Superspeedway on April 23rd, 2023. (Photograph courtesy of Legacy Motor Club). Publicity Flyer The United States Air Force has had a presence in Nascar for many years. While defense spending on advertising has largely dwindled, the Air Force still maintains about five to six races a year. For the past several seasons, the Air Force has utilized famous liveries that adorn some of the most recognizable airplanes in U.S. Air Force history. In 2023, Legacy Motor Club and the Air Force presented a livery based on the world renowned demonstration squadron, the Thunderbirds. Based at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas Nevada, the Thunderbirds have been active as an official demonstration squadron since 1953. The stunning red, white, and blue paint scheme is handsomely replicated on the Gen 7 Chevy Camaro. Notes:
Erik Jones primarily ran a sponsorship package backed by Allegiant Air, a company also under the umbrella of team owner Maury Gallagher. With a white base, the quick angles of red and blue on the hood would be easy to misplace. The same could be said about the fields of red that wrap the rear quarter panel and bumper. No gluing mistakes here however. This patriotic paint scheme looks outstanding, and it will be fun to delve deeper into for the full write up.
