The real thing: Kyle Larson rolls through the corner at Daytona in July of 2014. (Photography by Chris Owens). One area of Kyle Larson's resumé that is lacking is his performance on super speedways. Larson has endured a lot of bad luck through the years, and this summertime race at Daytona was largely ruined by a disappointing spin through the Daytona tri-oval. The car hit the grass avoiding a crash on lap 20. Larson was running in the outside lane and tried to steer his car low to avoid a spinning Wood Brothers Ford Mustang. Larson was still eventually knocked into the rain-soaked infield. His car would dig in at the splitter and sustained significant nose damage. While he would avoid being knocked out of the race entirely, Larson lost all of his aero advantage and after rain caused a premature end to the day, Larson would finish in 36th place. Notes:
The Gen. 6 Chevy SS was perhaps the most simple looking of the three offerings from OEMs Chevy, Toyota, and Ford. Nonetheless, the CGR Chevy's always looked good with top-tier sponsor support. This patriotic spin on the 42 car is good looking, and Lionel captured the fade from white to red effectively. This car is of good production quality.
