The real thing: Stewart's number 14 Mobile 1 Chevy SS undergoes preparations for the NRA 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on April 12th. (Photograph courtesy of Marco Bacerra, Flickr.com). Notes: In 2013, when Nascar rolled out the Gen 6 race cars, Lionel Racing ushered in a new era of diecast collecting with three modern moulds replacing the Ford Fusion, the Toyota Camry, and the Chevy SS. Out of the three moulds, this one saw the greatest longevity. The casting is really good for 2013, and collectively, these moulds set a new standard for 1/64 scale race cars. While the Gen 7 moulds of today (2025) are even more detailed, these examples from the last great era in Nascar provide great artifacts from that time period in racing. This car is scheduled for a detailed review in the future, so stay tuned. Sources:
