Right on time. The first arrivals of 2021 join my collection. I selected three models from the January offerings and I have a few initial thoughts on each one. Were you able to secure any of the models from January 2021?

To hear more of my thoughts on a select few of the models this month, keep reading.
This month I elected to pick up three of the eleven 1/400 scale model airliners offered by Aeroclassics. For more on Aeroclassic's January 2021 releases, click here. Upon first inspection, I am very pleased by what has arrived. I ordered from Aeroclassics direct (aeroclassicsdirect.com) and received my order within 5 business days. The models were neatly packed and well organized and I can't say enough about how impressive their new in-house purchasing system has been. I highly recommend their service.

My three selections were chosen based on mould quality, airline selection, and rollout appearance. You can never be too sure of what you're actually going to see once your product is in hand, but to the seasoned collector, there are certain things to look for. In this case, good moulds and rare subjects were the drawing points for my purchases.

Ethiopian 727-200 (ET-AHK):
For each of these models, the moulds are if not the best, close to the best in town. Each one has certainly gotten more use as of late compared to competitors. The Ethiopian 727-200 (ET-AHK) has been on my list for quite a while and I will take almost anything from Africa. I'm really pleased with the over all build quality and appearance, but Aeroclassics continues to struggle with layered printing. The gold lion and red cheatline do not layer well and the color of the lion is distorted by this. AC struggled with this same issue on their recent Ethiopian 707 releases (both PAX and Cargo) as well. Most of the other details seem to be in order but I haven't looked all that closely yet.

Air Niugini 707 (P2-ANA):
The classic 707 is a personal favorite and the AC mould, while showing its age, also shows its perfection. I missed out on the last Air Niugini, and I'm so pleased to have gotten this one. I'm not overly pleased with the plaint application for a small number of reasons, but there's nothing here that would make me want to send this on  return trip to the distributer.

Sabena A310 (OO-SCC):
My third selection ended up being the Sabena A310. Once again, if you're looking for an A310, Aeroclassics really is the only game in town. I think quietly, this is the prettiest bird we've been given this month. I think Aeroclassics has the colors spot on and they get added points for having the insides of the engine cowlings and fan blades painted in! Job well done, I will probably give a more extensive review of this model in the near future.

Conclusion:
There is plenty here for Aeroclassics to be proud of this month and I'm positive I'll be back looking to add more from the month of January 2021.
